Just bought a 91 LS the other day and I was messing around with stuff today and I opened the hood and I CAN'T GET IT CLOSED!!! Am I missing something? Is there some trick to closing it? I feel so dumb right now lol. I opened the hood when I went to go look at the car but when I was done the guy I bought it from closed it. I didn't even see him do it so I don't know what he did. Somebody help!!!!!!!!!! lol

Shouldn't be a trick to it, unless the car has been damaged previously. Just push down on the hood (assuming the hood struts are operating normally) and it should close. There should be no trick at all to it.

lmfao.. welcome to club lexus..
i bought my 91 LS about 3 months ago now.. same problem :P
you know the lever you pulled to pop the hood.. i'm pretty sure it didn't go back in cause the cable that pulls the latch is probably bent somewhere.. what you need to do is go to the trunk, grab your lexus pliers and pinch on to the cable under the lever you used to pop the hood.. and once you have a hold of that cable.. push it straight back towards the front of the car.. when you do it right, the lever for the hood will go back in (instead of sticking out loosely), so you'll know it should close now.. you're gonna have to do this every time you pop the hood.. so you better get used to it..

i really don't know how i could change it.. the problem is in the cable itself.. the cable won't cost much but running it all the way to the hood seems like a lot of work for such a small thing.. so im just gonna let it be

Thanks for the replies guys but I figured it out. Turns out the hood struts were just EXTREMELY strong and required more force than I thought. I didn't think it should take that much force to close a hood but apparently it does lol. But anyway thanks for the replies and welcome. I'm not new here though I just usually only post in the 2nd gen GS section.
