Default Engine Temperature Gauge reading lower than usual, something wrong?

I have a 1996 LS 400 that has 175000km.

Recent months in summer, I have noticed the engine temperature gauge reading lower than its usual place. For years, it's been close to horizontal or near there. Now it's reading between the 1st and 2nd marks out of the 5 marks (0,1,2,3,4,5), and seems to be dropping to an even lower level with winter approaching.

I have had my radiator replaced with new coolant about 4 years ago with new water pump.

The car seems to be running fine.

Who has a clue what the problem is?

I have this question as well.

There are times when mine hardly goes past the first line on the gauge, but the car seems to run fine...

wait for the car to cool completely down, then check and make sure there is enough coolant in the system.
