99-00 ls400 bass problem
Hey guys i have a 99 ls400, and i have a problem. I was wondering if anyone has an ideas how to get more bass in to my car. My entire trunk is dynomatted and it still rattles the truck because the bass has no where to go. Since this model doesnt have folding back seats due to the gas tank, that only leaves the stock 8 inch sub for bass to get into the car. i took out the stock sub and it got a little better but if anyone has any better ideas my ears are open. Thanks!

Hope this helps.
Hey sticky, I have a couple of suggestions. First one is simple and maybe you have tried it already, listen to your system with the front windows and the moon roof open. This should help the sub breath easier and supply more bass. The second one is to make a few more holes in the rear deck sheet metal. My last one is to get a custom sub box, one being a sealed box with the subs integrated in the rear deck in a similar way the stock one is. You could also get a ported box, one like the box above except the port would be directly in the cabin. I am in a similar boat. I will be doing audio in my 99 LS soon and am debating on which direction to go. I hope everything works out for you man.

yeah LS suck when it comes to getting some good bass. cut some holes in your package shelf, make some nice grills to cover htem. or get some unused 6x9 speaker grills to use to cover the holes.
or if you have money to spend, get a GOOD audio shop to build you a custom ported box to port all the sound up through the hole in the package shelf.
check out www.realmofexcursion.com for some more advice, those guys really know audio.

Yeah i think any of these ideas will work, but i think the cheapiest way to go about it is making a few more holes in the sheet metal where the stock port is. I just have to lay some material down to make it blend in with the rest of the cover. I'm going to give it a try and I'll let you guys know how it comes out

Im running 2 12" kicker comps, in a vented box with a 1000 wtt 2chnl. i removed the back stock sub, and dynomatted the opening where the sub used to be. I have very little rattle now. mostly from the license plate. and the sound it great!

yeah i keep switching between a 15" kicker L7 and a 12" RE sx sub, the kicker hits ALOT harder but it bottlenecks through the stock 8 inch sub because the box is so big and the port is too small. The RE sounds nice but its not enough boom....
