problem with instrument panel flickering - Help!
My '93 LS400 has a problem with the instrument panel. On occasion after start up, the electroluminescent dash does NOT light up. If you drive it around for 10-15 minutes, it'll flicker and then come on. And of course when the dash lights are off, so are the backlights for the AC/Heating controls as well as the radio. Finally, the speedometer will sometimes die for a few miles.
I'm praying I don't have to pay for an expensive instrument panel replacement. I'm hoping it's some sort of inexpensive short to fix.
Any advice would be appreciated!

It costed us $300 parts and labor to replace the Speedometer Needle.
Part probably costs around $10?
Labor = Expensive
And after they put back the dash, it would never fit "correctly" again. I currently have about a quarter of an inch gap between the front dash and the actual dash above the center air conditioning vents.
Can give pics by request.

Thanks for the replies.
epk, when you say "the light" do you mean it was just a bulb? The instrument panel look like it must use a very sophisticated kind of lighting to produce that 3-d effect.
Static911, was your speedometer needle not light up only, or was it not giving you the vehicle speed? When my dash lights don't go on, the speedo still works. However, sometimes when the dash lights are on, the speedo doesn't work. Weird.
