Do you own LS400 Model 2000 (UCF20)?
Do you want to disable the DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL).
Then this is how you can do it easly.
First Locate DRL main relay location from the repair manual.
Dont forget to disconnect car battery...

This is the Main DRL relay (Greeeeeen colored).

This is the main DRL location (behind the wires its green ..dont you see it LOL!).

----------------------------------
Now remove main DRL relay harness
and just cut this wire ( Complete black wire with red stripe) as shown in white circles in below picture.

Replace evey thing back.
And reconnect car battery. Test your headlights!
Guess what DRL disabled.

You can also disable them if you twist and unplug the cover on the back of the housing, then plug-up the bulb itself to the original harness without that cover. Anyone who has replaced their high-beams will know what I'm talking about.

This allows the headlamp to work, but for some reason that piece is vital to the working of the DRLS. Like i said, you do not lose Highbeam, you just lose DRL. It does not throw any codes at all. When it gets warm, I'll do a write-up. It's actually pretty cool.

qewani1 did not mention in this thread that he wanted to enable his DRL and not disable them. His DRL had been disabled by a previous owner. I assume he connected the cut wires to get his DRL working again.

Other than the safety aspects of DRL, I like that the DRL provides enough light when entering tunnels or parking garages to see until the AUTO headlight switch setting makes the low beam headlights come on. Of course, if I didn't have DRL, I'd be driving with headlights on during the day -- been doing that since the 1960s.

All he did was cut the ground wire from the harness. I hope he remembered to seal the wire end coming out of the harness, otherwise he'll have a nasty short eventually.

i just taped the wires after doing this...check the attached picture..

Does cutting this one single wire also work for '99 LS400s? I hate DRLs with a passion.

1. pick up hammer

2. swing hammer at headlight

3. shatter plastic cover

4. swing hammer at DRL light

5. shatter DRL light.

6. replace plastic cover.

I did this on my mom's 03 Sienna since it kept burning out the H4 bulbs prematurely. I just depinned one wire and it shut it off, headlights still work and function perfectly.
