At what point do you give up on your LS?

My 91 LS400 which I bought new, lasted 16 years and 350K miles. The engine was bucking pretty badly and I thought it was bad gas, but after trying several solutions, I gave up. The body was in good shape - no rust issues in California. However, there were definitely signs of wear - the drivers seat would not recline evenly - the right side would go down, but the left side would not go as much. The steering wheel leather was really worn. The odometer went out at about 260K and was replaced. However, I never had to do much with the engine - other than routine maintenance. I thought that at 350K I got my money's worth. Hope my 460L lasts as long. I'm not putting on nearly as much mileage, so it may go longer. Good luck.

Hey EASTWIND: check our fuel pump..I got the same problem like your with my bmw last year..I test the pump fuel, it was good...I then replaced the fuel filter, crank sensor, fuel lines..still no change..I then pulled out the fuel pump..I tested with a 12v battery..still run fine..but I saw few small pieces of plastic fell of the filter cover bag..it turned out that the fuel pump blades broken in pieces inside the filter cover bag..the fuel pump still working but not enough fuel being pullup due to the blades broken..so..recheck your fuel pump..take it out the fuel tank and inspect in person..also check your fuel line too..good luck..:-) btw..I will not give my LS unless the gas price go up to $5 bucks per gallon :-)))
