Hm...
I've disconnected the sender unit completly and gave key contact....shows just below half and yellow light (reserve) on (picture attached is with the sender unit disconnected), which makes me suspect in the cluster even more (if it was the sender unit, I beleive the needle would be on "empty" mark...)....

When I turn the key off, the needle goes down completly.

Any ideas?

Sorry to bring this thread up from death, but I'm just wondering if anyone had this issue, and did he resolve it?
I'm still driving like this, and still wondering could it be the gas gauge itself (I replaced the C142 capacitor, but the problem still remains)

what i would try is remove the tinted cover. plug the connectors back into the cluster. disconnect the fuel sending unit and turn the key to on, but dont start the car. once the needle settles id manually move it to the e where it should be when empty. a littl more involved but should fix it.

Hmmm.... I think I'll give it a bash now for the weekend and see if it works....
I really don't want to buy a stupid fuel gauge only cause of this + that gauge is expensive :/

if you play whackamole to get your speedo and tach to work your gauges can very well be seriously off

I'm not...I don't smack the cluster, as I managed to sort out needles sticking issue, so they don't stick...
