New owners questions
Hello!
Just purchased a 2000 LS400. Have some questions after driving this fine car for 2 days:
1. Is it possible to lower the front on the car? What modifications do I have to make?
2. How to make the air suspension adjustable; I want to make it softer.
I think it is adjusted harder for European market (Finland)?
3. Will these wheels fit?: Barzetta Volante 7x17, 5x114.3 Offset: 38?
4. The navigation has a box in the trunk were I suppose there is a cd. That means it is at least gen2? So I may be able to find an update on that? Any suggestions on were to search for European maps?
Thanks for any hint and help!

Welcome to CL,,,
1&2,,,If you have factory air, you will need an aftermarket Air Height controller in order to adjust the air ride more that factory as well as lower the front or rear of the car.
3. Wheels will fit but will actually look very small on the big body car. May want to go a little bigger.
4. Not sure on Nav question,, am sure that some others will be able to help.

Welcome to CL - Finland? Nice. Trukn1 is right on what he says. Seems like if you go lower the ride will not be softer - it must be more firm to avoid hitting bump stops, etc. I say this because mine is lower (non air) and it is most definitely harder. The air controller though I cannot speak to.
Definitely avoid the 17" wheels my friend - look at photo gallery where you can compare OEM 16", through 20" on many cars.
Can't answer the Navigation - mine is a 95.

no idea on the updates for the euro maps, Lexus of Europe (or just Lexus of GB) can probably help you with that. mind you, here in the US at least, the maps are horribly out of date and very slow to use.
18" or bigger if you plan to go to aftermarket wheels is the general consensus on the forums.

I think the 17" Barzetta Volante wheels would look nice on your 2000 LS400 -- they look conservative in accordance with the car's styling, and similar to the 16" Millia Miglia Bello wheels I use in winter with snow tires on my US specification LS400.
If you want a softer suspension, using 17" wheels might make the car ride even more harshly. Air suspension is not very common on 98-00 LS400 cars sold in the U.S. One forum member, Vicpai, reported a very harsh ride on his 2000 LS400 with air suspension: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ce-thanks.html
If you use 17" wheels, the LS430 sold here with 17" wheels had tires of size 225/55-17. The 98-00 LS400 with the DHP option (Dynamic Handling Package) sold in the U.K. used tires in size 245/50-17 but many thought the ride on DHP versions was too harsh. The LS400 with DHP also had shorter springs with higher rates and a larger rear anti-roll bar.
The navigation system on your European 2000 LS400 is different than the system on 98-00 LS400's sold in the U.S. Here the 98-00 LS400 navigation system used a replaceable hard drive -- not a CD like yours.

Thank you!
Thanks for all the information!
The nav question is anwered; there is no map cd:s for Finland. Has never been. This said Lexus Finland.
Now I have only one more question at this point, but Ill start a new thread on that one.
