So i checked my ignition module by buying a new one and testing to see if it helped any.

Nothing happened the car was still misfiring like nobodies business, so i go my money back from the ignition module.

I think ive pin pointed my problem to the ECU.

There's nothing else left.

All vac lines check.
Fuel Check.
Everything electric check besides computer.

Can a relay cause all 8 cylinders to misfire?

Thats the diagnostics I got.

Im thinking the only thing that could cause this is the ECU.

Im gonna go to the Junkyard tommorow and get an ECU....Hopefully this solves my misfiring mystery.

Maybe you tried it but I don't see it mentioned... have you tried resetting the ECU (remove negative battery lead)? It might need it if you didn't get things put back right the first time.

I find it odd, though, that the problem started immediately after you put things back together after working on your starter. Might be overkill, but you may want to start removing things as if you were going to get at the starter again, maybe you'll see something that isn't right.

Are you sure you don't have a cracked vacuum line somewhere?

^ Yea i tried resetting it multiple times to no avail.

All the vaccum lines are visible without having to take anything off. (no vaccum lines under the intake)

What i think happened was that i connected the two wires the wrong way on the coil so when i started the car all the power got sent back to the ecu and fried part of it.

If anyone has the slightest idea just post up

^Yea i checked it with the diagram and there all where they are supposed to be.

If you look at letter "C" that ignition coil has two wires on the bottom.

Well those two little bastards had a plastic plug but being that the car is 13 years old and has 165k the plastic was brittle and just broke so i was left with two plain wires.

But yesterday i got my voltmeter and tested which cable is getting power and which one is the return. Turns out the (black w/orange strip) is the power and the (white w/red stripe is the return). But i think the damage has been done to the ecu.

Oh yea its misfiring on all 8.

I want to get the ecu from the junkyard and i am almost positive thats it but it's $300.

Now i know thats cheap but the thing is if somehow its not the problem then i can only exchange parts. I basically don't want to have store credit with the junkyard.

did u check the ignition coils themselves? those things can cause a nightmare when they go bad.

^ What i did to test the coil is i put the Voltmeter on the Ohm's setting and tested it.

The coil inside is still intact because i was getting a signal on the voltmeter.

Another thing is that if that one ignition coil went out it wouldn't cause all my cylinders to misfire. Only 4. I wish the junkyard or someone would let me test the ecu first too see if it works. That would be awesome but i have to prepay. $300 bucks in junkyard credit is no fun.

Well it looks like the ecu is not the problem....thats fine.

TPS is also fine (replaced both from a running car)

So i was talking to a guy an he told me it could be my camshaft position sensors???

do any of you guys think these could be causing all the mayhem?

So car is still misfiring and i haven't hit the cause?

What could make my engine misfire on all eight cylinders, Bouncy idle?

If any of you guys can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

If mods could please change the title to ( Random misfire) maybe ill get more responses.

Thanks
