99 LS Steering wheel groand when telescoping down
After driving my first LS (91) for 3 months short of an entire decade, I am happy to have my second. A gorgeous Blk Onyx 99. I was hearing a groan of sorts when I removed the key and the steering wheel telescoped down (away). After removing the plastic cover I discovered the design has been upgraded from 1st Gen to a far superior design!! Thank you! I simply applied a little white lithium grease to the shaft above the collar which holds it and moved the unit in and out several times to distribute the grease. Now it is very quiet and hopefully no added strain on the tele motor. Just wanted to share the simplicity of this quick and easy fix.

There have been past threads on fixing the tilt on an older LS400 by putting a washer or something else behind a plastic sprocket. I think you can find the threads if you do a search. There is even a very nice video on youtube on fixing the tilt on an older LS400 -- search youtube for LS400 and I'm sure you will find it.
I don't know if the fix would work on your 99 LS.
