shouldn't be too hard to change the master cylinder, as my 300zx was pretty easy to overhaul.

FIXED!!!!

I had the same issue on my girlfriend's 2004 ford taurus. New caliper-still sticking. New master cylinder STILL STICKING.
Talked to a guy who said its rare but the brake line from the caliper to the metal brake line gets clogged. Spent $30 on the new brake line took me 10 min to install and bleed the line.
Been a month now and no stickin! still pissed on the amount of money i spent on everything else.

Well done.

A way to test for that is to step on the brake so the caliper gets stuck, and then loosen the bleed screw on that caliper. If the brake hose is clogged as you had (happens sometimes when the inner lining of the hose delaminates), opening the bleed screw will allow the pressure to escape, letting the caliper release from the stuck position.
