Pop off the covers on each side of the steering wheel ,to expose the torx screws .A flat screwdriver worked fine for me .

Next ,remove the torx screws located twards the top of the covers that you just popped off ,they are kind of hidden .Note ,they do not come out all the way .You will know when the screw comes loose from air bag .

Next ,pull the airbag off gently ,and kind of lay it down face first to expose the wires .Keep in mind that you dont want the weight of the bag on the wires . Be very careful of the wires The yellow one ,you have to slide the part that has a little dot on it ,to your left ,and it will come right apart .The white one ,just push down on the little lever ,and gently seperate it .The big plug on top ,I used needle nose plires ,because it is set back into the steering wheel ,it seperates just like the white one connected to the airbag ,by depressing a litte lever .Needle nose worked great ,because my fingers would not fit in there .

Next ,remove the steering wheel nut .I had to hunt down a puller ,it was on there very well .Then just pull that puppy right off .Be careful of the yellow wire that you have to feed through the wheel though as you are removing it .

Yes ,actually he was .It's almost impossible to do anything in the garage with him around ,constantly licking my face ,and smacking me with his tale .I eventially had to put him in the house .

Hey nice job. So you didn't have the wood wheel to start with? The one on my '99 has several cracks in the clear... oh well.

Oh yeah - nice car you got there. I got the same color combo as you (click sig pic below). I don't see too many '98-00 LS in green (I think it's called Imperial Jade right?)

No ,it just had the grey leather wrap wheel .Your right about the color combination ,it's kind of a rare combo .The wood wheel does have a small crack in the clear coat at abot 12:00 and 1:00 ,not bad at all though .Next ,I would like to get a wood shift **** .You are right on the name of the color .How many miles do you have on yours ?You have a great looking car .

My '99 has 153k on it currently. I purchased it with 110k on it from a older guy who got it as a CPO. I had full service history on it so I felt comforable buying it with those miles. He sold it only because he came across a deal on an '03 LS430.

I really like the car but it's starting to show its age - paint is a bit oxidized on the rear bumper and it has a fair amount of scratches and chips in the paint. Mechanically it's near perfect - everything works great. I think if I got it detailed it'd be much better.

I dig the green because it seems like 80% of the LS's on the road are either black, white, or beige (aack!).

We bought ours with 129,800 miles on it ,but it was a original owner car and like yours ,has all the Lexus service records .The original owner traded it in on a brand new 08 LS460 .Must be nice !!!Ours also has scratches in the paint ,and it could really use a good waxing ,but overall ,we love the car .Have a good one .
