Default removing shift **** on 98 LS400

Now call me stupid .(I know I opened my self up on that one )Anyway Im going to replace my leather shift **** with a wood one today .Does that thing just unscrew ,and does the new one end up in the right position when tight ?And will it bottom out in the correct position ,or do I just tighten it till it ends up in the correct pos.It's a 1998 LS400

Not at all brother - it unscrews like you said. Installation is reverse.

only thing i can add is do NOT overtighten it

just be sure to start tightning in the 12:00 position, and it should line up perfectly.
