Greetings, as mentioned I recently bought a 93 LS400 and have begun to delve into fixing all the little problems this car has. One thing ive noticed is that the steering wheel is all the way up, but when i try to move it down, the motor or something makes a wierd sound and it wont move down at all, can i move the wheel down manually somehow?

This is my first post btw and reading the stickies hav helped a bunch so far.

I have the same thing on my 96. My 91 (345K miles)still works fine. On my 96 I have noticed that the motor works at time and not at others ( and the weird noise). I am thinking the gear drive is sticky, but don't want to tear into it.

Thanks for this info AZHotLS. Fixed mine in 15 minutes. Used a Gallon Milk Jug Top for my washer!!! Perfect. Lexus wanted me to put a new motor in to the tune of about $200 installed. Fixed mine for nothing!!!
