Ok, did you try JUST the delete?

Remove the last 2 mufflers and drive it. This is FREE.

If you like the sound you can leave it or as others suggest have pipes installed to extend to the rear of the car and then add tips of your choice.

If you want MORE sound you can have the center two mufflers removed. You could run this way but it will be loud. So, you would have 2 cats (or 3 depending on OZ rules and if and how the car was modified for compliance)
the center resonator, Y pipe and straight pipe out the back. If too loud add 2 straight through mufflers at the back.

When you start modifying your sound will change for each and every step just like a trumpet getting different keys opened while playing. None of these mods are likely to add much power and you do risk loosing low end response depending on what you change.

Start with the delete.

jbrady, that's a pretty good point you got there haha!

I'll give it a go and see what it's like. I don't care for it being loud so everyone can hear me. I just want it to not sound like another Toyota electric car.

Or, you could do the E-bay special. I bought a 2.5" X-pipe for a Camaro for $25 and two 2.5" straight throughs with detachable silencers for $15 each. Deleted everything from the cats back, and ran 2.25" piping. Sounds great with no noticeable low end torque loss. Vehicle runs hard and sounds great running up to redline on the highway. All for under $250 parts and labor.

Hi, I've looked into it some more, and noticed a few people doing resonator deletes.

Has anyone tried this instead of muffler deletes?

Resonator delete will just cost cash to replace larger resonators with pipe. The muffler delete is free and you can always change it back. If you like it you can have always pipe run to the rear bumper with nice tips tho or just leave it as is.

I don't how different they would sound though. When I replaced resonators with pipe it sounded pretty cool IMO.

Yeah maybe you will like that sound for a while (I did). When I first deleted resonators and used OEM mufflers it sounded cool, not too loud. That lasted for a few months. Then I got nutty and removed the middle resonator and added hi flow mufflers - crazy now.

On cost if they are charging you any more than $25 to weld tips on you should go to some place like Meineke and just pay cash to the welder. Inexpensive stainless tips are available at summitracing online.

Also if you go with a larger OD tip and longer one it will deepen the tone and help to take the raspy sound out of it - at least it did on mine.
