$$$96 Ls 400 Power Steering Leek$$$
1996 Ls 400
180,000 Miles
Mint Condition
One problem. There is a slow P/S leek. I was wondering if anyone new possible causes and average price for each different repair that could be needed?
Thanks

Well your pump could be leaking about $400 installed
Rack and Pinion could be leaking at box, or the boots are ripped and the fluid could be leaking from the boots, about a $1000 installed.
Your high pressure power steering line could be leaking at the fittings, anywhere from $250 - $450 installed
I just had all those things replaced about 2 weeks ago. I have a 96, and my PS pump failed, R&P was cashed, and the high pressure hose was leaking at both ends.
I was fortunate that I had gotten a few good deals, so I dropped about $1800 on those repairs, but it was worth it.
IMHO I would take it to a shop you trust and ask them if they can find out where the leak is coming from and go from there. In any case good luck, or just keep buying fluid, it will be cheaper, LOL!

very likely cause is the P/S idle up valve, leaking PS fluid into your intake slowly. Read this thread:
