Custom steering rack for 95-97
#16
Good point on increasing feel by dropping the car. That along with stiffer ride will make significant changes - at least it did on mine. When I started modifying I thought you could swap for a SC400 rack - not so.

I drove a couple of sc400's and was not impressed with the steering. At 3.1 turns lock to lock it's still too slow. 993 porsche is 2.47 lock to lock just for comparison.

Just off the top of my head, check out the Mk3 supra rack. I always felt that my pair of Supras were spot-on for steering feel and weight, and that car weighs just about what an LS400 weighs. Within 200lbs I'd bet. I always disabled the power assist boost at low speeds, and the car felt great. Those racks should be dirt cheap, and they *might* fit (with a little custom work, naturally.)
A library also *might* have tech service manuals on tap for you to research through. Big ones do, sometimes.
