Larger Capacity Oil Filter for 1999 LS400?
Is there a larger than stock capacity oil filter that you recommend? What is the PN? Toyota Brand?
I have a 1999 LS400.
Thanks!!

Why? Essentially the same oil filter (two different part numbers) has been used on all Lexus and Toyota V8 engines from at least 1989 through 2006 -- don't know about the LS460. I've put just under 300,000 miles on two Lexus LS V8 cars over the past 19+ years and the standard oil filter has done just fine. I buy them by the 10-pack at a Toyota dealer -- paid less than $40 last time including 10 oil plug gaskets.

No the filter is not bypassed under certain speeds.
A bypass valve is for when the filter is excessively dirty and restricting the oil flow so a spring allow the oil to bypass the filter to keep the engine from starving.
Toyota sells a larger filter for the trucks that fit fine , I use them all the time instead as increased filter media means longer life and reduced pressures.
It is a d3 I think.
Parts counter guys will know as it is the same size just longer.
The newer filters are just paper inserts , quite messy and a stupid idea.
