Anyway, since I am clueless on this, is the strut bar cushion actually not even on the strut, but part of the steering system?
I know my stupidity may annoy some. Still unsure of what all has to come off and how to change this out.

Strut rods are not struts, they are separate parts of front suspension, one on each side - left and right. They have bushings on one end. I think a seroius press is needed to push them out. Check out the LexLS.com tutorial, so you get an idea of what the part looks like, etc.

thats not true on the 1st gen LS, the cushion is completely different.

I really should change the actual struts on the front, as they dont seem to absorb bumps like they should... then again, the springs could be sagging as well.
