Default wierd problems

Hi..all at once my battery light, add oil light, add coolant, rear light, brake light came on,
But everything seems ok..coolant level is good..oil level etc.
I have read it might be the wire's in the trunk hinge .

The weirdest thing is once this happened..the loud humming noise.which i thought was either from the power steering or alternator.has completely stopped .It feels good to not hear that hum, the hum gets louder when i would press the brake pedal to put it in gear..and until the car warmed up and the idle drops to normal.it is very loud......any ideas???

From what ive read on several posts [try search-feature!], it's more than likely your alternator. Get it tested promptly before doing anything repairs/replacement.

Goodluck

yes it was my alternator .....I bought this one off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0396&viewitem= great deal.
the hum noise is gone. THANK GOD.
The original alternator was soaked in power steering fluid.....but I could not tell that the steering unit was leaking...maybe the lady I bought it from got it fixed. I put a shield between the power steering unit and the alternator to keep it from doing any damage.

So for anyone that read's this......if you have a humming noise. it might be your alternator and not your power steering pump

Hi,
A simple search would reveal that it is the O ring seal on the PS reservoir that causes the leak of fluid onto the alternator below.
So don't replace the alternator without replacing the o ring at the same time or you will be needing another alternator very soon.

Improper ventilation of the power steering unit. Lexls.com will show you a proper fix and many other things.

Power steering leak is the LEADING cause of pre-mature alternator death in our LS's. The warning lights that you all have had displayed is your first sign that it is pretty much dead and your car is running purely off of battery power alone. In most cases, you have about 30 minutes before the car completely dies. In the case of the humming,,,,low PS fluid level is NORMALLY the culprit; especially if it is leaking.

The smell could be PS fluid leaking onto the exhaust and burning quick enough so there's no smoke. The humming could be air in the PS pump seeing how it leaks.
