when i bought my rims and still had my stock blown sus, the rim shop put some hard rubber or polyurethane dampeners in between the spring to stiffen them up,

not the same shape as the one my rims shop used but by the looks of it, its the same thing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Energ...item1c030f69d6

My rear springs on the white LS are tired too, especially the drivers side rear. It's cocked a little bit - maybe 1/2" lower. I thought springs don't wear out

that's not just the rear, the entire drivers side of most LS400s (especially 2nd gens) tend to sit ~1/2-5/8" lower than the passenger side.

Is this a wear issue, or did Toyota design it that way?

afaik the cars were like that from factory, though it has been noticed that removing the batteries tends to even the suspension out.

Check out these rubber spring inserts also. I have been using them. You get 15-20lbs. of increased spring rate.

I was using them in both front and rear to prevent sag. Since I am dropped more than 1" I needed to increase spring rate. It is a long story and I won't bore you with details. These are inexpensive and easy to install.
