In the near future I am going to be looking at an LS 400, but the front suspension is in need of replacement as the front air ride leaks. I have two main questions.
First is, is it possible to drive the vehicle home with these leaky shocks? I wasn't sure if the air ride controls all dampening, or if it was mainly for ride height or comfort. Drive would be about 20 miles.
Second is, I have searched a bit and found used replacements, but was wondering if it is possible to just remove the air ride shocks and maybe replace them with a set of Tokico or KYB shock/spring combo?

i bought an ls400 with bad struts all around. leaky air ride....
and it drives... sorta.
but only at very low speeds and you will experience a whole lot of rubbing and bouncing.
i just went ahead and bought some full threaded coilovers and installed them, you pull the fuse to the air ride system and it works just fine.
i got k-sport coilovers from "Rides Low" here on clublexus he is a vendor.

remember to look up a good FAQ on replacing the air struts.
let out the pressure before removing them, and you can flip the "tow" switch in the trunk which disables the automatic height adjustment.

Thanks for the info!
Should I pick it up, would it be a good idea to flip that switch before driving as to not keep the pump running as it tries to fill the front shocks?
