Default skipping gears when car warms up

been having transmission problems with my UCF11 Celsior.

while the car is cold it will shift fine, go through all the gears no problem

it eventually glitches out and will go from 1st to 3rd, to overdrive. the o/d light will also flash. if i am at highway speed cruising in o/d, and kick down, the car will not shift down, but if i put the gear lever into 2nd, then it'll drop down to 3rd...

i plugged my Toyota computer into it and it throws a shifter solenoid 2 code...

wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Have you tried changing the fluid?
Might have to pull the pan and replace #2 solenoid if fluid change does not help.

That's the first thing I'm going to try, the fluid looks new, and the previous owner told me that he did a transmission flush a month before i bought it.

BUT he also told me he pulled the pan off to check the valve bodies, etc.

and it was filled with Royal Purple Dex................

I'm going to flush it and replace it with some Toyota T4 come spring.

royal purple's ATF is T-IV compatible.

they dont make a purely DexronIII/mercon only fluid.

I know it should be compatible, but i don't see why it was necessary. Maybe it's just me but i've always been a big believer in OEM fluids for OEM applications.
