94 LS400 Rotor Splash Shield Repair/Removal ???
I just replaced my front lower ball joints and noticed that the splash shields were very loose and could not figure out how to replace these. I have found the part online at Park Place Plano Lexus for $30.00 per side, but it looks as though the entire wheel has to be removed to replace the shield? It is noisy as heck now when I go over bumps and I know it is these sheilds.
Could someone tell me if you have to pull the entire wheel/hub assembly off to replace these shields or is there a better way to repair them without replacing them. AND, if I do have to pull the entire wheel/hub assembly off, doesnt that mean I will also have to have the wheel bearings pressed back in when I re-install the wheel/hub.
Thanks for your help or advice. Tyndale Cobb

I did not see or realize there were BOLTS that hold this on??? If there are bolts, I will go back underneath and look for them, that should solve the problem.
But does anyone actually know, if bolts hold this on, or is it just held on by being between the hub and the wheel, which would be a major pain to remove everything?
Thanks

Thanks Gr, I was looking at the rotor splash plate on Park Place Lexus site and it did not show the bolts and did not have them for sale, so I assumed there were not bolts; just held on by the wheel/hub.
After I got your response, I went to the Lexus Dealer and asked to buy these two bolts. Their parts description showed 4 bolts on each side and they were cheap $1.70 apiece.
Parts guy said maybe I could slip a box wrench in between rotor and shield to install bolts, or maybe there are holes in the wheel that will allow me to slide bolt in and tighten them up. So, I bought all of them and hope to fix the rattling over every bump, when they come in. Will let you know...thanks.
