I'd say find one with the color that you want cause that'll haunt you later on if you don't like it! Take you time. I got lucky by waiting and found a 99 white on gray/black leather w87k miles for only 9,500.00

I'll agree with my fellow Minnesotan here, LS4s are a dime a dozen, if you don't like any of them, don't buy them. It really depends on what your going for. If you wanna pay the extra money, then its worth it, but my advice would be to go cheaper and go with the one that has the service done, if you don't do you service yourself. I just wouldn't pay $10k for a car that is now 12 years old.

I wouldn't say all used car dealers are bad and out to deceive buyers. But they sure get suspicious cars from other dealers (via auctions). If one dealer can't sell a car and need to auction it off, there is usually some problems with it.

yes, that used car dealer kind of suspicious.
although the car looks very nice (because they did a full detail) but I can see the bumper work and as soon as I mentioned about that, he was like "ah...yes, looks like the bumper has been replaced..." "oh, lexus runs forever...." tried to steer me away from that.
when I exam the autocheck and call Lexus, no work done after 50k/2005 even though the car is still registered locally.
Nonetheless I think some used car dealers are ok. But again it is better to get from a toyota/honda/whatever used car lot then some unknown "brokers" (they come and go very often especially at my area)

some update on my search
i made an offer on #1 ($9500) but right before the inspection, seller told me the car was sold. That's ok.
for #2, the owner was gone for vacation. But I talked to him on the phone and told him I will give him $7K assuming nothing bad comes back from inspection. He told me someone offered him $7500. So I said no deal. Well, it has been a few weeks and he relisted his car again. New price is $7995.00 (was $8995)
$7K would you guy buy it? (again, fog light doesn't work, hood support need to be replace (you guys told me eBay for $50 >) known bumper and side door body work due to minor parking lot accident but no carfax demage

Buy #:2 after having it checked out. Does he have any or all of his service records? You can also login to My Lexus and check out any dealer maintenance via the VIN.

#1, Don't buy a car this old from a dealer. #2
2) 1998 110K miles, $8800 by owner (all option with nav with chrome wheels)
Pro: Like the color, Lexus owners (he is a lexus guy but kind of lazy on the scheduled work)
Con: fog light doesn't work, chrome wheels all started to peel off. Gold logo all around (not my style but easy fix) Hood support shock need replacement as well. Has some body work on driver side door and front bumper
You don't want this car! There are plenty of well kept LS's out there for around the 8-11k range to be had. However, I think 7 is a little low, so you get what you pay for in the end.
