New to this site, but seems like alot of info and help, just bought a mint 98 LS400 with 89k miles. would like to drop it about 1.5 in the front and 1" in the rear. will the Teins springs do this, and what else needs to be done, such as alignment, or anyhting else ? would appreciate any help and any pics if you've got them of a ls400 at this hieght . Would like to put some 18's on it to give it an updated lok. Love the car !!!! Thanks

welcome to Cl

this topic has been covered many times already, for the drop ur looking for id say H&R springs would work best. u might need to get struts as well. if u do decide to buy new struts, the closest thing to stock ride quality is kyb struts. all of this will run u about $600-700. that being said many ppl on this forum (me as well) will say if ur gona spend $600-700, y not jsut add another $100-200 and buy some megan coilovers and make the cars drop and ride quality to ur specifications. with springs ur stuck with what u get for the most part, whether it being 2 low/high, soft/stiff and what not

and yes u deff should get an alignment done after u drop the car

"carguychar" are you from Charlotte, NC? I have a 98 LS in Charlotte and I'd like to see this car take shape if you're going to be lowering it.

Default ls400 location

No, I 'm from California and seem to be getting more confused the more I read, one person gives a tire size, the next a wheel size, and so on. would like to try and drop it about an 1" in the front and 1/2" or so in the rear and get a better wheel fitment but not sure which direction to go. will try and post a before and after though. just bought the car, Love it !! what a car! new to this site trying to figure out how to post a pic ?

1" in front and 1/2" in the rear is hardly worth the effort or expense. That kind of drop won't even be noticed and it won't do anything for wheel/tire fitment.
From personal experience with Megan coilovers, they'll drop the car at least 2" and you can go lower from there. They also ride damned close to stock near the softest setting. If you want to go lower, you just stiffen up the dampening and viola.
Any shop with suspension experience can install coilovers or springs for you. I suggest doing it yourself if you have any mechanical knowledge and are comfortable doing it.

Whatever floats your boat. Not my style but its not my car either.
I'd pick something a little less flashy.
