Yeah, it's missing the little cover for the shift lock. I've looked a little on eBay, but I think I'll have to hit up the dealer for it. I'm sure it's not very expensive.

I paid a whopping $9200 for the car, BTW. Price trumps the Gold color. :P
Also, I was the first person to ever open the First aid kit and the tool box! Nice! 11 year old band-aids!

the part number you want is 33554-50020, should be around $10 at most dealers, $8-9 at carson.

Seems you can save by getting it from a Toyota dealer:

Thank you guys!! Wow, from me simply posting a picture, you guys were kind enough to provide me with a part number and a place online to buy the missing button cover! I just ordered from Sewell Lexus online, even paid with PayPal, easy-peezy!
Thanks for all the write ups and help! I've been able to research all the areas of concern for the LS and I'm well prepared for anything that may creep up.
I'll offer my experiences when I do any work, so to help all of you in return.
Thanks again!

only if that toyota dealership sells lexus parts. afaik, and even according to the thread you linked, there isnt a toyota equivalent to what he needs.

Steering groans and 90k service is due soon, and it's Gold, those are the only drawbacks. Car is like new. Best car I've owned, although it looks as plain as beige wallpaper. Seriously, someone payed $60k for a new 'Gold' car? It is invisible to Police, though. <BR>

With the cover off the shift lock is actually there, just take a screw driver and push down the little button inside. That will unlock it.

The plug is covering it. From 95 an up it isn't written anywhere.

Haven't looked under the cover.................

Is this button used if you can't unlock the shifter by putting your foot on the brake?

An override?
