Default Finally got to look under my car!

I took my car to my friend's shop yesterday to do bushings... that was the plan at least! I picked up the Daizen front kit and some poly axle carriers for the rear, in an attempt to make the shakes and rattles cease. Well, turns out this car is 98% bushings! Just kidding, but there are a lot of them.

Starting with the rear, we pulled off the axle carrier arms to install the polys in there and discovered the rear axle knuckle bushings (?) were GONE!!! Wasted, deteriorated. So now I have to find those, which is fun because I don't know what they are actually called or their part #. Diagram anyone? Exploded of the suspension, with part numbers?

So didn't get to the rears so much. Decided to check the front and the UCA on the drivers has a deteriorating ball joint and the passenger lower ball joint is going as well. No sense in doing the front kit just yet, either, due to that fact. So I am trying to amass all the parts before we attempt this again. Wish I had some detailed diagrams, though. And I'm sure this is gonna be a pricier venture than I originally thought!

Oh yeah, and this car needs 5 mufflers, huh? FIVE!!!?!?!?!?! I found out that the rear one is actually detached and the car still sounds nice and quiet. When I upgrade, I may have to lose a few of those with a custom exhaust.

I did slap on the summer wheels, while we were at it. Pics to come!

For some reason I cannot link directly to "t o y o d i y.com" (take out the spaces), but there you can find diagrams and part numbers for most of the parts on your car (or any Lexus or Toyota for that matter). A very good resource.

Nothing I haven't seen in there, though a good source indeed. Still think I need to get a printout, maybe from a dealer or mechanic (alldata?) and get all the correct part numbers.

But man, HOW MANY BUSHINGS!?!?!? I guess to make a car that smooth, it takes a lot of pivots... and rubber... and money.

it would be nice to get a list of P/N's and names for all the pieces... Sewell should do a kit for high mile LS400s....

I got the guy at Lexus to fax me a sheet with all of the part numbers, but I don't have a scanner. If I can figure a way to post it, I will do that. No names of parts, though.

A full kit would make things nice and easy.

And I now have all the bushings I believe are needed for the rear, as well as the Daizen Kit for the front and 2 OEM ball joints for the front. Just need time and my mechanic friend to help me out when he is done nursing his aching shoulder.
