it has yet to be done but the internals on the supra mk4,sc300/400,gs300/400 should be the same as (aside from gearing) the LS400 from 98-00. the casings themselves will be different. so if you want, say, a torsion diff from a turbo supra (automatic), you can get one, but will need to pay for labor to have the torsion unit removed from the supra diff and installed into your LS400's diff.

only aristo i ever heard of coming with an LSD were the V300s with the 2jz-gte. and that wasn't always iirc.
gearing on any of the 98-00 1uz cars (sc400, gs400, ls400) is 3.27.

Is lexus anti-LSD ?
what is it with lexus and limited slip diffs ? they make these 300+ HP cars all with open diffs ..... i don't get it... i mean my '90 cressida had an LSD and it drove great, you could really drive it on the back wheels... so i get my dream car, a '98 LS400 and to my disbelief no LSD... ok, maybe a GS430... no LSD jeeezus lexus.. WTF ?????

Ok lets clear the air. The only diff that can be put into the LS4 pumpkin is an LSD insert from a TT Supra with an auto tranny or a NA Supra with an 5-speed with the LSD option. The 6 speed LSD will not fit, don't ask why, search. You can always purchase a LSD insert from Toyota, Kaaz, Carbonetics, etc. No GS300, 400 or 430 came with an LSD, not sure about the Aristo, but I think they all put TRD inserts in theirs. No LS400, 430, not sure about 460 but I would bet it wouldn't fit in the LS400 pumpkin. The IS300 came with an LSD as an option, but it is smaller in size and it will not swap over. If you guys for a little searching, the homework and footsteps have all been laid out for you, that's why it's nice to have a community like ours based on older cars, everything's already been done for us.

i agree with everything he said ^^^^^^^^^^^.
Here is one for you , i have a 1989 ls400 and it has a "G" series diff in it along with matching door tag to confirm.
all the ones mentioned above are all "A" series diffs" and you can mix and match the inners. there are differences in the housings for each car but the internals swap out.
the six speed supra is a ''B" series diff and is its own animal.
lucky for me ill be swaping an LSD unit in my LS400 with a unit from the older mk3 Supra.
