I guess we did actually used to build cars in those days.

Nice motor tho'.

Amazing, 138 mph with a flat - probably a good job you didn't actually know it !!!

The car though, definetly has room to go..I think it could do 160 mph.
Lee, WOW... good job! Be CAREFUL. Stuff happens REAL quick at those speeds. Make CERTAIN the tires are in great shape.

BTW, from what I have read your car is NOT electronically limited only aerodynamically. The electronic limiter started in 96 or 97 (not certain which year) and is 149mph through 2000. The 2001 LS430 is limited to 131mph.

Why is the LS439 limited to "only" 131?

First gen does not have a limiter. Lower your car and you will go even faster. The drag coefficient drops on lowered cars.

After I got my license in 1994 I took my dads LS 400 1gen with about 100000km on the Autobahn. I reached 275km/h on the speedo. Overhere the 1gens are not limited. Now with 410000km and 17" wheels the car stillruns 260km/h. The cruise control works till 210km/h.
With the original suspension of the 90-92 model the car feels not very stable in long Autobahn corners with more than 200km/h. Especially when there are bumps in the road. Fully loaded it even got worse. But with the upgrade from the 93-95 model it is perfect. I believe the setup for europe is different than the us setup.

I am sorry to say this, but this is not cool. Without going into all the reasons why(and they are numerous), the #1 reason is you might very well not only kill yourself, but you may very well take out an innocent family along with yourself. Or even worse, you may kill innocent children travelling in there parents minivan and you yourself, happen to make it out alive.

This topic really hits home, and the unthinkable, horrible consequences that happen at these speeds on public roads and freeways.

TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!
