Default High Idle Problem

All of a sudden my car now when started cold runs up to 2k and sits there for a few mins then will slowly work its way down for many more minutes. Once full warmed it acts normal and will idle at 400 RPM-ish. It jerks pretty good if you put in gear and will drive it's self down the road and even shift gears with no gas from my foot. I did do a muffler delete and remove the air box and did the door protector to the filter in the same day and then this started. Can't imagine that either of these would cause this. My garage was 50 this morning so it wasn't cold. I also took out the ECU fuse for 30 mins and it still is doing it. What's the deal and what's my next step. I will try to kill the power tomorrow by removing the batter cables to see if that help. Anyone else have this issue when doing either of these mods, or have a similar issue.

this is kind of off topic but my idle is around 750-800 when sitting, is that normal? Since yours is at 400 after being high, i guess thats a problem too?

High idle when cold is normal, 2k I'm not sure about. If you havn't ever replaced your ECT sensor for the ECM do that just as preventative maintenance. You should measure your idle when it is warm. If it is 400 it is too low. Try cleaning your throttle body. The hard engagement on the trans is typical of a freshly reset ECM and adaptive strategy. Drive it easy for a while and it'll soften up. If you floor it all the time it will jerk into gear. If u'r hearing a big clunk also think about looking at your trans mount.

I know high idle is normal for a cold start, but 2K is not and not for that length of time. The trans only shifts hard from park to drive b.c of the high idle. The car has been over maintained from new. Has 154K on the car.
Recent maintenance.
@ 133K a 30,000 mile servise was done, trans and diff fluid, cooling system flush, bleed brakes, clean throttle body, inspec and lube.
@ 130K Timing belt
@ 120K 60,000 mile service was done, tran and diff fluid, pcv valve, fuel injection filter, platinum spark plugs, brake bleed, cooling flush, throttle body and fuel injector clean.
@ 109K power steering pump/pully
@108 both cats replaced

I'd probably start by cleaning the throttle body again. No codes I presume?

The idle RPM seems very low. I think it should be between 600~800 rpm depending on what the A/C is doing...

that's too low, should be ~650-850rpm.

It is a perfectly smooth idle not rough at all. I'm not concerned about 400 rpm. 600rpm is where my idles once warm but not fully warm.

It did it again this morning was around 60 in my garage why did it start high idle again. It sat since monday morning(started fine) and it started up perfect on wednesday afternoon and now today(Thursday) it's acting up again? Only went up to 1800RPM but just sat there.

What is the proper way to clean the throttle body?

Lexls.com has the tutorial for a 1st Gen. Shouldn't be too much different for your 95...
