1992 LS400 timing belt, water pump, & labor price??
Hey guys, newbie here. I have been lurking on this site for a couple months now. Bought a well maintained 92 ls400 a few months ago and love the car. Sadly my timing belt snapped the other day after roughly 155,000 miles (never changed since new). A local mechanic who happens to own two 1UZ-FE V8 (Ls400 & Sc400) said he could fix it for $450 parts & labor (timing belt & water pump only). My question, is this a fair price?
P.S.- pics coming soon! THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP GUYS!!

id recomend changing all the front oil seals while he is in there. might as well since all the stuff will be off anyhow. wont be much more for parts.
his price seems kinda cheap since you prolly bent a bunch of valves at minimum, as i recall these are interference engines. might have busted a piston as well when the belt broke. if that happened your prolly better off buying a used engine and put a new timing belt and seals on it before its installed.

Welcome Noelphilly,
Your 1992 1UZFE engine is NOT an interference engine. Very doubtful that your engine sustained damage from the timing belt breaking. When reassembling, it is essential to have the timing perfectly set between cams and crankshaft. If you have faith in your mechanic to do it properly you have been quoted a very good price. Enjoy your car!
