Question

Anyone that has done this fully, the ecu fixed the issue but I drove it before it put in the new cruise control computer and now that I put in the new CCC it seems to drag the car down when I let off the gas, no jerk or anything and is very smooth but doesn't coast like it I think it did before I put the new CCC in. Anyone just change the ECU? Does a normal LS400 seem to stay locked in the torque converter untill the rpm come down and then kick off and the rpms jump up a bit and the car coasts like I think it should? I can feel it slow me down and you can hear it in the exhaust like if you had a manual car and you left it in gear to decelerate and then at like 40 or 50 mph it kicks to neutral like state and coasts just fine.

On the '95 I changed the ECU on, I didn't do the cruise control ECU and it has no problems with coastdown.
My '96 has the dragging coast-down and an updated ECU. I never bothered to check the cruise control ECU part number and I've just learned to live with it.

Well I guess I will switch out the CCC this weekend and try the old one again and see if if the drag down still happens.

Swapped the old CCC in and the drag down seems to be less. It still drags down but not as far or as strong and kicks off earlyer.

I put in the 50234 ecu. It's like a new ride. Throttle response is better, and no throttle jerk at 45mph-ish off peddle. The car still idles in gear too fast on highway traffic jams downhill, and an occasional almost early downshift into 1st in traffic. Other than that the drive turned into silk. Thanks for the help in solving a frustrating anxiety of the ls400.

With my cali ecu swap - 50234, I notice you feel the deceleration more, with less of a floaty feel. And a much sportier acceleration, with no retarded torque wind up. In traffic, sometimes a touch of acceleration will be at the high end of 1st, then shift to 2nd right and go faster right when I need to brake. That's the only complaint. I also have to ride my brakes, or give too much room ahead downhill, like an SUV/truck would, especially coasting behind hyndai's and vw's. Maybe because I'm driving a large heavy car, or I the TPS looked at. Other than that, I am so happy with the ecu swap, no "oh my f-ing god, wtf" when the old ecu gave throttle shock occasionally, when letting off the pedal suddenly around 45 mph. I was bothered by it so much.

i came up with a simple fix for these problems a while back. My 95 still has the stock (problem) ecu but it hasn't done the weird jerk or hot low idle/stall since:
