Help on 91 LS Air Bag Light on after replacing instrument cluster(speedo gauges)HELP
HELP HELP Can any tell me how to reset my airbag light, l was told that after changing my speedo cluster that the air bag light may go on. After changing the Cluster the air bag light did turn on and is now very annoying. I am told that I will have to bring the car to lexus for them to reset it!! another dealership told me that if my car is ten years or older the light goes on for a service,And if this is trues is it exspensive to have a service for this and what kind of service is it?
Anyone suggestions will help, I tried taking the battery cables off but after reading the lexus car manual it said not to do that. Your help will be appreciated Thanks!!!

yes, supposedly, i think it will say on your passenger side visor or somewhere, airbags need to be inspected in the 10th year, and every 2 yrs. thereafter.
to disarm srs system:
turn car off, wait AT LEAST 90 seconds before beginning work. this is very important, or else your airbags might deploy. diconnect battery, 90 seconds begins NOW. after the 90 seconds, you can check all of your air bag sensors and their cables. BE CAREFUL with this step. basically, don't cause anything that might damage these sensors, or else you might have an airbag that doesn't deploy in case of accident.
Now, to arm the system back up, reconnect your battery, turn car on. light will stay on for 6 seconds (you know that) if no problems are found. if light stays on longer, you probably need to have one of those diagnostic code readers or servicing of your airbag.
i hope this helps

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery won't clear the airbag code. Your airbag code is the result of working on the instrument cluster (you turned the ignition on didn't you?) not faulty airbag sensors. You'll need to follow a specific sequence, which was posted on other threads, to clear the airbag code. Do some thread search...
