What? That has got to be the stupiest complaint about this car, pushing a button. Some people complain about the stupidest things. What's the difference between pushing a button for "resume" or pushing a button for "set"? Cruise control is meant to be used for... cruising on the highway, not city streets where someone can step out from behind a parked car, especially a kid who doesn't know any better. Safety first. And if someone can't think of how fast they were going so they can reset the cruise, they're not smart enough to be behind the wheel in the first place.

I have heard that some dealers can re-program various computer controlled functions. I don't know if they would want to do anything to the cruise control due to potential liability issues. But it probably would be just a matter of re-flashing an EPROM. Sorry, I don't know how.

Read the owners manual on the CC. If the speed drops more than 10mph from the set speed, resume will not function.

95 Ls has a bad brake light switch. Yes the brake lights will still come on and function normally. Check codes after this occurs to be sure and before you turn the key off. CC wont store codes.
Do you have issues with the shift lock as well?

Yes, the Owner's Manual is clear and of course I read it. I had the brake light issue with my Jeep Cherokee. It can even be intermittant, due to dirt or corrosion. By the way, here in the Phoenix area, cruise in the city can be quite normal, due to streets and connector roads which sometimes have stretches of a mile to several miles between red lights. Depends on traffic and time of day. Phoenix area consists of a number of towns and cities tied by some long stretches. For example, I pass through the Salt River Pima Indian Reservation a couple of times a day. Long straights, a couple of intersections. Traffic varies from zero to heavy, some tipsy drivers, some slow, some aggressive. Cruise is great at times, but sometimes you get a stretch where there is nothing, then stop and go, then nothing for a time. It is interesting to set it at say, a 45 speed limit, then watch speeders and drunks flying by at 60. We have a lot of "inversions" here, by that I mean, their car is upside down with smoke drifting out. Also, a LOT of hit and runs.
