Why read...

If the electrical connections are hooked up, fuel pump is working and ECU passes... Pull some plugs, use a bore scope to see how the cylinder tops look. If shiny circular valve impressions on the carbon topped piston shows up...that will verify the engine -is- an interference motor. No hearsay to doubt. Let us know.

We were going to do the compression test first, but I like this idea better. If there are impressions, there's definitely a major problem.

i work at napa auto parts...when i look up a timing belt for any car its right there on the screen......"INTERFERENCE ENGINE" your 96 is in fact an interference motor....there, i just put an end to that arguement
