If I am not mistaken, the original question was if BG was an effective way to clean the intake and plenum, not the injectors, combustion chamber or gas tank.
The BG foaming cleaner does work well at cleaning the throttle body and plenum. A small injection tube is introduced into the air intake boot ahead of the throttle body then while holding the rpms at a point where the engine won't stall, the cleaner is then sprayed into the system. The only caveat is that all of the gunk gets sucked through the engine whether good or bad is open to debate. Many people also use a can of carb cleaner, a toothbrush or equivelant and some rags. Removing the intake boot will allow easy access and is not a difficult task.
Cleaning the throttlebody has been known to help poor idle issues and sticky throttle plates.
