DIY Alternator replacement?
So tomorrow I'm going to be replacing the alternator on my 95 ls400. It gave out saturday and left me stranded in the mountains. I was able to make it home by going to autozone, getting a loaner battery and having mine charged, then drove through rain and fog down a mountain with no headlights, windshield wipers, ac, ect. I managed to make it about an hour and a half on one battery then i switched to my backup under a bridge on I-85. So now I've bought a new alternator and i plan on replacing it my self. Can anyone give me some advice on how to do this? I can't find a tutorial here or anywhere else. I'm not a complete noob mechanically, but I'm nowhere near an expert.

alright i really need some help here guys. I've started trying to change the alternator, but i cannot turn a single bolt. They're all frozen. I did some research online and the only helpful advice i got was using some wd40 and that didnt help. I dont have room for a breaker bar and laying on my back i just dont have much room. someone please help me.

Have you done this?
"Alternator will come out the bottom. You need to loosen the power steering pressure hose from bottom. It connects to oil pan area with 3 10MM bolts. Once you loosen PS line you can remove from bottom without removing any other items. As you remove you will have to roll alternator as removing to clear the battery terminal on side of alt."
If that doesn't work, look this guy up...

The attached might help, it's for a 2000 but the location is similar. You don't need to remove the P/S pump.
It's not hard to replace, in fact one of the easiest alternators that I've swapped out.
You have the front end raised properly...right? Jackstands, wheels blocked etc?

Three bolts that havent moved in 15 years. I've got plenty of muscle, but I dont want to round of the bolts.

So nobody knows any clever ways to get a frozen bolt out with limited space? I went to the store and got some liquid wrench, but that did me no good. I've thought about heating it with a mapp torch, but i'm worried i'll set something on fire down there.
