I've been running a trans cooler on all my cars including my 91LS 400 and all I do is put a hose on the output side of the cooler and pump 4 quarts and refill 4 quarts drive 20 iles and do it again till I have done 12 quarts I also use mobil one synthetic trans fluid and it cost about $60.00 to change all that fluid. At the moment Mobil one trans fluid in no longer being sold in CA for some crazy reason but in all of the rest of US should return soon to CA I hope. You can also use the Toyota type 4 trans fluid which the Lexus uses. I also did this same thing on a 1986 Toyota Cressida which went over 500,000 miles on the same trans so changing your fluid makes a difference.

toyota fluid is a little less red as I remember than dexron or synthetic or others if you changed 12 quarts your fluid is 85to 95% fresh. this will help your trans last a long time as I said above I went 529,000 miles on a single Toyota trans in the Cressida which by the way is similar to our LS 400 trans my friend went 568,000 on his 90 ls400 with just using Toyota Type 4 trans fluid and the car is still running with well over 600,000 miles with the same trans and motor. HEY MERCEDES CAN YOU DO THAT

Hi Bill. I've noticed that your Toyotas last a VERY long time. Is there any way that you could post a detailed tutorial on your transmission setup? Maintenance, flush/fill, cooler setup? I am very impressed with your long lasting toyotas. My'92 LS has about 100,000 miles now, but I would be very, very happy to drive this to 600,000 miles or beyond...

I've been reading your tips on the oil change thread. Thanks for that. If you could post anything and everything you've done to your LS to make it live so long and so well, it would be very greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
