Ok this thread is going no where. I honestly don't care about which car is better, etc., etc., etc. Because honestly, I would take a Lexus over any Infiniti and that's the way it is for me.

which means you shop on badge appeal and not the true characteristics of each car- regardless of the type of class vehicle we may be talking about.

Yes because Lexus is reliable and more trustworthy in my opinion. And the fact that Lexus just makes good solid cars all around. Yes, there are some bad apples in the batch, but that's only a few. It's not based on the characteristics of the car but as well as the characteristics of the company. If you can't handle that a Lexus owner prefers a Lexus over an Infiniti, then that's your problem. I'm not saying Infiniti is bad, I'm saying I would prefer a Lexus.

So if your talking about a LS430 vs. a Q45, I would take a LS430.

Its not that I cant handle your opinion. I have nothing wrong with your opinion of wanting the LS over the Q. What I dont agree with is that badge, and reliability over every aspect that makes up a car. In essece, you would choose the LS over the Q, or maybe any car in the class, even if the LS had a V8 with 200hp, weighed 5k lbs, had a cloth interior and was 10 times uglier than the ugliest car imagined. As long as it had the L and reliability, youd take that car everytime. Thats what i dont agree with.

PS: Im not trying to fight, im just trying to converse with people here

It seems that you two look at things from the hypothetical "What If the LS had this" point of view. I look at it based on facts. The LS doesn't have 200 HP, the LS doesn't weigh 5,000 pounds, the LS doesn't have cloth interior, and the LS isn't "10 times uglier than the ugliest car imagined." And reliability and customer service plays a major factor when choosing cars (for me it does, I'm not sure about you). If the LS suits my needs and desires, I will choose it over the Q45 anyday.

And just a side not, the Q45 is a mighty fine car, no doubt about it. Infiniti is making huge progressive steps. But about 4 LS's (and 1 RX) have gone through my family and we have seen it all with these cars and what they can do. So therefore, I am very confident in LS400's/LS430's and the LS's to come in the future.

Maybe if we can get a brand new Q45 for around $45000 out the door......There will be whole bunch of them on the street just like the GS. For that price tag, I'll for sure go for the Q45 instead of the LS430 or the GS430.

Have you ever sat in a Caddy??? Just because it is American doesn't mean it can't be a luxury car. My old Caddy is more comfortable than my Lexus.
Yup, drove plenty too. I think their definition of luxury is for still very ol-school. SOfa seats. Fake wood mixed with real wood. Panel gaps in the dash and everywhere else. The current Seville is nice, (especially inside) and a great improvement but there is absolutley no excuse for the interior of the CTS. Gray plastic everywere with a silly dash of wood on the top of the steering wheel, gear **** and door handles (after thought). The Deville is a fine tourer but it's definition of luxury is not my idea of luxury.

Shoot the M45 has an identical interior to the Q and the same engine for this price. It's understated looks look better than the Q to me. Might as well discontinue it.

BTW 299 Q45s were sold in July, this car was totally redesigned just last year.

can we please forget about sales? sales dont make a car better. if the LS430 sold 20 cars a month, would that make it any lesser of a car???

Yup. I am sure Infiniti expected the new Q45 to LEAD the brand into being a recognized luxury car maker and say 20-25k cars are it's goals. It sells 5,000 cars it's first year (not sure of data), to me something is obviously wrong.

It's not just the Q. The Aztek, Acura CL-S, Saturn L- series, Isuzu Axiom, they all have failed miserably.

failed in sales. you cant say that the cl and Q are bad cars though. again, whats your point? sales dont dicdate if a car is good or bad. you could have reviewed the Q before it went on sale and could say it owuld be a good car. but after it goes on sale it sucks because its not a class leader?? that makes no sense and thats what you are implying here.

The A8 sells about the same if not less than the Q. does that make it any less of a car? A8 is a terrific car.

A8 is okay (S8 rocks), but it must not sell in droves for a reason (BTW is it just me or the new one look exactly like that VW Phanteon)? Phanteon is a nice name for a car.
