reaosn is the same as the Q. audi doesnt have enough status to sell a 60k car. there are never a8 commercials. this is the same reason why the q doesnt sell.
the reason isnt because of faults with the q and a8, its because of lack of status and advertising. this is what i have been trying to point out.

drod: your argument on sales and how good or bad a car is is well noted. But consider this: Infiniti has really tried to "sell" the Q, and yet they continue to fail (in sales, if you must insist). Any company that would re-design a new design after 1 year must know something is bad about their product. And it isn't about a lack of ad either. Look around today, there is plenty of Q ad's on the tube.
Now Nissan did wonders with the refreshing and snazzy re-design of the Altima in the MY '01 release. It has been an unqualified success so far. Does the Q need the magic of the Alt ? Maybe not, since even a new freshing of the looks and engine hasn't changed the Q's "perception".... Ahhh, that's it... Perception. As you know, perception can sometimes be GREATER than reality. With the '00 Q design being a dud, even Jerry H and the San Diego team Nissan design team may not be able to help this car if consulted.
Personally, I'll venture to say that the Q is in a dead end, and Infiniti needs to move on. Focusing on the nice G35 and maybe a sport wagon model or a cross-platform vehicle may bring back some lustre to their shine. Seemed like they have given up on the QX haven't they ?

nicely said. I see it as infiniti is altering the looks slightly as a positive thing. But i understand how it can be seen negatively. it seems like they are focusing on the future as ive read and heard rumors of the next Q being on the FM (Z, G35, G35c) platform. The Qx needs an update as you pointed out as well. Ive read it will go fullsize while the FX35 and 45 will take the mid size market. the redo of the QX is long overdue however.

Are you kidding me? Take the word from a person who is predominatly is a sportcar Enthusiast with a '99 vette and a GS300 (which happens to have the most comfort of any car that I've been in) and can therefore, offer a more unbiased opinion.
I've driven these cars at lest twice in the last 6 weeks.

S430
LS430
Q45
As far as Q45 VS LS430:
1. COMFORT - LS430, HANDS DOWN!
2. ERGONOMICS - LS430, HANDS DOWN
3. EXTERIOR LOOKS - LS430
4. INTERIOR LOOKS - LS430
5. LUXURY OPTIONS - LS430
6. POWER - Q45
7. GAS MILEAGE - Q45
8. OVERALL VALUE-LS430
Believe me, if I thought the Q was better, I'd be looking for a Q right now or one of those other cars.

comfort, exterior and interior looks are all opinion.
As far as Luxury Options- the Q def. has more.
And when you step into your Inifiniti dealer, and want to buy a Q, you can easily get one from them for well below 60k, the same cannot be said for the LS. So I would think the Q is a better value.
Again, what you listed is really more of a personal opinion.

"Presitige" is more a negative than a positive. When people see a person driving a 'prestige' car they think two things 1) that person has a lot of money 2) that person really wants me to know that he has a lot of money. I get enough grief about having four-year-old Lexus ('must be nice', or 'i guess your daughter won't be going to college after all'), I would never buy a Mercedes. People look at you differently. They expect you to pay for dinner, to give three times as much as they do to their charitable cause, and to tip the valet $10 more.
I wish that we had more comments from people who had actually driven a Q45, and who had put it through the paces. I was curious about how its ride, handling, comfort, power compared.

That is not so true. At my age, when people ask me what i drive, they gasp more at the mercedes, but then when they hear the lex too, they barf. no, seriously, they gasp more at the benz, but no one ever expects me to pay for them or to tip the valet more or anything. If I drove an S500 or S600, then yes, maybe... but the same thing would happen if you had an SC430 or LS430.
