Default newbie w/classic ls400

just bought a 90ls with buck 50 n change miles for film production, but decided to keep it myself. did the dealer service thing, it was from local dealer serviced from day 1, t/chain n power streering pump replaced a few thous ago. i've always been a german car guy, but now lexus has sold me with this car. absolutely beautiful ride. amazing... i don't even drive the beemer anymore....

some cons tho,

-cd changer button when pushed, cartridge is stuck. it winds up n wants to come out, but doesn't. does anyone had this problem/solution?

-bought one of them cassette to ipod thing, but didn't work... woa woa woa...

-rpm needle is below zero. everything else works. from search, looks like i gotta take out the cluster, but don't wanna really mess with it....

-did the oil/fluid check, but not transmission yet. fluid looks very pink and shifts fine. should i do it anyway?

appreciate any input.

for the headunit problem, your best bet is to just get a whole new headunit since the lexus one is pretty out of date anyways.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5412&viewitem=

Cheapest combo for both the dash kit and wiring harness, just ordered it the other day myself

Also, if you're trying to take real good care of your '90, order yourself this too:

LS uses timing belt not chain.

ur oem headunit is not good, which is common.

check the big thread on the cluster repair.

trans fluid sounds fine, dont change it yet. does it smell burnt?

Keep playing with the cartridge, it will come out. I usually knock on it a few times and it comes out. There's a pinhole next to the door, in case that is not opening.

rpm needle lube gets old and thickens. Works ok in hot weather.

Sounds like a great vehicle...

What color...? What condition? how much did you pay for the car?

I dig the Lexus LS400 and I am considering getting one.

TIA and best of luck with your new ride!

right, timing chain. pardon me on that. yeah so she's black/gray w/pristine gray interior, but when i first saw the car from distance, thought it was dark gray with alloy wheels. in closeup, i found it's black and chrome wheels! spent the wknd steelwooling them to shine.

also noticed power side mirrors don't work. didn't find any specific fuse for it, but did anyone had this issue as well?

and this morning i heard like hissing or slight squeaking noise from engie bay. went away, then came back later. sounds like idle pulley from search, but not sure.

raced a mercedes cl near mulholland dr, left his rear end in the dust. a lot of power when needed... amazing.

just can't believe this car is 2 decades young.

Did you hear the hiss while you were in the car or under the hood? Do you have air suspension? I know when I first heard my air purge out from the compresor I thought something was wrong b/c I never had air suspension before. That hiss only lasts about 2 seconds though.
