move to colorado. we don't have any safety inspections. ou can drive anyold piece of junk here, as long as it passes emissions (if you live in one of the front-range counties). and its a hell of a lot warmer in denver in the winter.

You could easily knock this stuff off in a day. Also, there are a few local LS400 parts cars on kijiji. And at least you'll know the LS will be good to go for a while. If you buy another beater you could inherit the same problems again.

my idea of cold is northern illinois where i grew up. colder than denver, and the humidity makes it twice as bad. the first winter i was in denver to go to school i played golf one or twice a week pretty much the whole winter.

Turns out the owner before me has been using hot safeties for the last 2 years (and possibly e-tests)

He is a member here I just don't know his name, when I figure it out he will be definitely getting some poor feedback.

Not sure if I should just sell it as a parts car or part everything out myself. What do you think is going to get me the most money back?
Is this the list of problem areas given to you by the government inspectors? The things I would be most worried about are the engine burning oil (how can they tell - blue smoke out the exhaust?) and the brake lines replacement. Now, the brake lines also have flexible rubber hoses at each wheel. If a steal line is a little rusted on the outside, that is rarely a reason to replace. The flexible hoses at each wheel can go bad as the rubber dry rots with age. Which parts were they referencing specifically? Any high mileage vehicle can wear out ball joints - they should be replaced if worn as it can be a real safety issue - but not necessarily unexpected for an older car.

I would bring the car to another shop to verify/double check the problems and really evaluate what MUST get done versus what SHOULD get done.

I hope this helps?

Andrew
