Default Replaced my Strut Rod Bushings on my 99

THIS TURNED OUT BAD FOR ME!! made the LS ride HARD, to firm for me, I am going back to OEM.

Hi well today I replaced my strut rod bushings with the Polyurethane bushings.
PD said they would be noisy, but I done it anyway. On one of my other LS's I used OEM, but on this one I wanted the polys.
I was not experencing any problems, but could see some tearing in the rubber, so being a maintaince freak, it is done. this is the one I put motor mounts in a couple of months ago.
here is the old bushings:

Normally, but I checked and I will be able to put a zerk in it when necessary.
I will keep y'all posted... as long as I last..
this LS has a slight shimmy starts at 75 increases at 80 and goes away at 85.
it is not really bad, but since I have two of them, I know it should not be there. It does not feel like a balance problem, the steering or seat dont shake, but you can feel the smoothness leave at this speed range.. and I like driving at 80 when it is posted at 70... the law seems not to notice you. they set their guns at 81.....

FIXED... had a knot on the left rear...

Thanks, Billy. I have been reading your posts of the maintenance you and your nephew complete. I'm contemplating changing the strut rod bushings as you have just done in addition to motor/tranny mounts. I too have a small shimmy, though mine is noticeable mostly when accelerating above 65 (or going up hills). Thanks for the pictures, they are a tremendous help to me.

make sure the caster rod bolt is tq'd properly, POS is a pain to get to factory spec of like ~130ft/lbs or something without a lift.

found it, slight knot on left rear tire... now it is smooth again.
I was checking to see if I had a wheel out of round when I spotted it.

I swapped in the ADUS ones and they seem to be sliding so the arms slide right off of the bushings and clunk against the undercarriage .

didnt take you as a spirited driver there Billy - lol! keep us updated on the polys - I am replacing mine in 2 weeks along with all shocks, sway bar bushings, and engine mounts. finally saved enough pennies to break the jar

I am going to remove mine, they make everything the tire touches turn into sound ( PD said they were noisy) . I didnt know what he was talking about. They make your ride more noisy than it was with the original bushings, which were softer. I am going back OEM.

YES, me too..... these things are like having a solid connection, not a "shock absorber"

THANKS PD, you tried to tell me but I didnt understand, I thought they might squeek from lack of lubrication, but they have no flexing, I know now how they last longer...... they are solid
