wow, i have been having the same problem with my car occasionaly as well, im pretty sure it must be fixed at no cost because of it being a safety issue.....i would contact lexus first and then have them refer me to a dealer instead of going straight to a dealer!!

www.americanlexusparts.com quoted $205 for the seatbelt in my 93 ls400. I'll keep searching for a cheaper fix, but may have to go this route.

I had this problem on both my 94 ES and my 93 LS.

The problem was not completely eliminated but was greatly helped by cleaning the surface of the bracket that holds up the belt at the point where the belt slides through it. Use a Q-tip moistened with Fantastik or something similar. After cleaning, I applied some Son of a Gun to the bracket surface. This makes it slicker and allows the belt to move through easier.

Default the solution

in all ls models the seat belt is made for comfort. if you want the belt tighter, then hold the clasp in the locking mechanism and press the unlock button. the belt will choke you then.

I would go to the dealer as well. Seatbelts are something that should be covered for life, actually probely the only thing. But get it in writing if they dealership refuses to fix it for free. They're not going to want the libality of that. (ie. send the GM a written letter)
