That seems to tell me your v-8 is fine. I'm pretty sure you have another issue. Would expect you'd hear somethingin the motor esp. when at operating temp if there was a motor problem. knock, rattle, rough idel, smoke etc

Yes - you are aware these are "projection" dashes, right? The bulb is at the top of the dash and projects the engine light and all others onto the face of the dash where you can see them. check up top

Yes. I took the surrounding bracket that holds that section up, I took it out. Oddly, there are three areas for screws but only two had screws which indicates to me that the guy had been in there screwing with it at some point. I switched bulbs around to see if it would work and the check engine light still does not come on. I'm heading back out to tinker with it some more and then I'm going to take it to get the codes checked out.

Thanks,
Shawn

Your car is running in limp mode because the ecu is bad. Not being able to pull a code and non-operating engine light are the tell tale signs. The 90-95 ECU's have capacitors that tend to leak after 10-15 years. I had the same issue and many 93-94 LS400's have this problem. Best bet is to find a used ecu that has been proven to work. Only 93-94 ecu's will work for you car. There are some ECu "repair" outfits but they dont always fix the problem.

Dont waste money throwing parts at the problem. Confirm the ecu is bad at the dealership. Shouldn't cost more that 1 hour diagnostic rate.

So it turned out to be the coil on the passenger side area of the motor. I replaced it and now the LS has a tremendous amount of power. It does now however feel like it has a slight miss when it idles. It seems to shake at 1k RPM's. Also, the telescopic doesnt seem to be automatic and the tach as well as the speedometer stopped working. However, after driving it for about twenty minutes the tach came back to life but the other two items are still out. Any ideas? I'm assuming the miss is coming from the side of the motor that was getting so much fuel due to the coil being out but I'm not certain.
