I too send along my condolences. However, carrying "collision" coverage on that old of a car can sometimes be a fools bet too. In the first place collision coverage is expensive. Secondly, regardless of what you think the car was worth and regardless of whatever repairs and etc. you've put into the car, the insurance company is only going to pay average dealer wholesale. For an idea of what this figure is you can check out Kelly Blue Book for the Trade in value of the car in "average" condition. That number is the real wholesale value of the car and it's usually not a very flattering number.
Unfortunately, neither you nor I can purchase a car for its wholesale value. So rather than accept the ins. co's lo-ball cash settlement offer, it sometimes helps if you negotiate with the claims adjuster. Just say, 'look fella, this offer might be what the car's worth, but I can't replace it for that figure with one of like kind and quality and I need a car.'
Sorry to say...but the day you made the decision not to carry collision insurance is the day you chose to gamble loosing the whole car. That day has come for you.

The pics show how much this beautiful car has been taken care of. Horta, your interior is in better shape than mine. My dash pulls away at the top of the airvents (from the sun) and shows evidence of not being garaged in a few other ways. Yours is just flawless all around. Makes me want to cry. Does anybody on CL have a body shop that might want to save this LS from the junkyard? It will certainly require some hard work to straighten the back end, adjust the passenger side exhaust, etc. Maybe a totaled in the front LS could have the back section cut off with a torch and re-welded on to this one
Oh well, I can dream.......
Hang in there, Jerry.
