Hi,

I got a 1993 LS400 and the battery light just came on and i drove for like 2 days and it died so i thought it was the battery and i bought a new one but it died again and the battery light was still on even with the new battery
my friend tested the altonator and it gave 15V and he said the altonator is good

anybody have any idea whats going on?? or had similar problems???

just check your codes and replace the defective part. the lights come on to tell you that there is a code set... in most cases.

Sure sounds like your alternator is bad to me. If the light is still on with the new battery then it's not charging. Charge your battery, drive to Autozone and have them check it. (It's free) Your freind might have checked it wrong.

either the alt is bad or the charge fuse is blown. also check the connections on the back of the alt. i had the wire break off the connector that bolts on the post once.

Chances are the alternator is faulty, this model suffers the power steering reservoir O ring leak which lets fluid drip onto and into the alternator, have a good look for contamination and if there is fluid damage don't replace the alternator without replacing the O ring or you will have the same problem again soon after.

15 volts is kinda high output for the alternator. Should put out no more than 14. Sounds like the voltage regulator, which is inside of the alternator itself is bad. Last aternator I had was kicking out around 18. Needless to say, it was replaced QUICKLY.

good call, often times voltage regulators arent replaced during "normal" rebuilds.
