When you lock the car with the remote key fob you hear a beep (one when locking two when unlocking) this adjusts the volume of the beep or turning until it clicks turns off the beep altogether, only Lexus would have an adjustable beep!

+1. That must be only on the Canadian and European domestic models, because AFAIK, the USDM OBD2 LS400s the beep is then programed into the ECU, and my 92' OBD1 doesn't have a beep, or an adjustable one at that. I wish life was as simple as just turning the dial, although it would probably get annoying if you manage to bump it frequently. Good info.

OBD2, meaning 95+ ls400s have a button in a similar place, not a ****. the button simply turns the alarm beep on or off.

My 93 has it. It's pretty hard to bump it b/c of where it is. Ya wouldn't even know it was there unless you're laying on the floor looking up. (hooking up some wires or changing a fuse)

The beep control **** was added for U.S. models for the 93 model year. The 90-92 LS didn't have the **** or the beep.

Ya, I posted the pic - thanks Steve2006 for telling me what it was. My keyless entry quit a few months back and I can't justify ~$300 to fix it so the ****'s useless to me but a frealy little gadget - just like you said - only Lexus would allow you to adjust the level of the beep on entry - LOL

My installer discovered it when installing the my stereo otherwise I wouldn;t hav enoticed it.
