Default CD Changer connection issue

I just bought a changer out of a junk yard for my 1995 LS400 with the "premium" non-nak sound system. The changer is a Pioneer 86270-50090, I ripped my dash apart, only to find that the female port on the changer didn't accept the male wire behind the glove box. I thought that all 95,96,97... changers fit all stereo heads. Even more annoying, the male and female ends both have/accept 9 pins on top, 2 on the left, and 3 on the right, it looks to me like the plastic connections just don't line up. The changer has an october 1994 mfd. date. Is this changer from a pre '95 car? am I stupid? or do I need a converter of some type?

thanks in advance for any help, lexus audio can be frustrating.....
